SDA 40B Denatured Ethanol
Our SDA 40B (Specially Denatured Alcohol Formula 40B) is denatured on-site at our Marysville, Michigan facility using denaturing materials that conform to both FCC and USP specifications. This formulation makes it ideal for personal care, cosmetics, cleaning, and industrial solvent applications — while qualifying for federal excise tax exemption.
What is SDA 40B?
SDA 40B is a specially denatured alcohol formula approved by the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB). The denaturing process adds small amounts of specific agents that render the ethanol undrinkable without significantly affecting its performance as a solvent or ingredient. Because it cannot be consumed, SDA 40B is exempt from federal excise taxes on alcohol — providing significant cost savings for manufacturers of non-consumable products.
Unlike many competitors, Pristine Alcohol denatures on-site using materials that conform to both FCC (Food Chemicals Codex) and USP (United States Pharmacopeia) specifications. This means our SDA 40B starts with our ultrapure 190 proof base and maintains the highest quality standards through the denaturing process.
